Spain plays the Netherlands in the Women’s World Cup quarterfinals

Spain has dominated the first half, keeping pressure on their offensive third — but have failed to convert one of their many attempts on goal.
The Spanish appeared to take the lead through captain Esther Gonzalez but a VAR review determined she was offside.
That came after Dutch goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar earlier tipped a header from Alba Redondo onto the post. The Spanish striker then hit the upright again with her follow-up shot.
The Netherlands are often getting overrun in midfield as Spain’s passing game leaves them chasing shadows at times.
That said, the Dutch have had a few good moments and will be thankful they are still in the game.
The Oranje should have done better from a gorgeous Lineth Beerensteyn cross from the left that was just begging to be headed home — but no-one connected.
Meanwhile, Spain’s Oihane Hernandez received a yellow card for leaving her foot on Jackie Groenen — she’ll miss the semifinals should La Roja progress.
