West Ham had to wait 43 years to win a major trophy. The drought came to an end last season, with the Hammers securing the UEFA Conference League title after a hard-fought victory over Fiorentina in Prague. Lucas Paquetá didn’t score in the final, but he definitely played a pivotal role in their success.
The Brazilian midfielder, who arrived in east London last year from Lyon for a reported €43 million, struggled to settle in at London Stadium at the beginning, but he eventually found his place. The 25-year-old delivered a fantastic performance during the road to the title, and the club honored him for that recently.

Lucas Paquetá received the Best Individual Performance award for his amazing contribution in West Ham’s come-from-behind victory over Gent in the Conference League quarter-finals. Following a 1-1 draw in Belgium, the visitors took the lead through Cuypers after 26 minutes in England and put pressure on the Hammers.

However, an inspired Paquetá pulled the strings for West Ham and paved the way for the comeback. Michail Antonio was the one who put things level, but the Brazilian put his side in front after 55′ from the penalty spot. Only three minutes later, he came up with his first assist of the night for Declan Rice. Shortly after that, the midfielder provided another key pass to let Antonio make it 4-1.
Paquetá hopes to have an even better season in London, this time with the number 10 on his back.
