Dangerous heat possible in parts of Alabama on Sunday

Only three counties in Alabama were not under some sort of heat advisory or warning on Sunday. The combination of heat and humidity could make it feel as hot as 115 degrees this afternoon in some places in Alabama, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs are expected to climb into the mid- to upper 90s in many areas this afternoon, and that combined with high humidity levels could make it feel much hotter.

NORTH ALABAMA

* Heat advisory from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday for Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan and Cullman counties.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville said the heat index could reach 107 in those areas this afternoon.

CENTRAL ALABAMA

* Excessive heat warning from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday for Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Sumter, Greene, Hale, Perry, Marengo, Dallas, Autauga, Lowndes, Elmore, Montgomery, Macon, Bullock and Pike counties.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said heat index values up to 112 degrees will be possible in those areas this afternoon.

* Heat advisory from 11 a.m. Sunday until 9 p.m. Monday for Lamar, Fayette, Walker, Bibb, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Randolph, Marion, Winston, Blount, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Lee, Russell and Barbour counties. The weather service said heat index values up to 109 are expected.

* Heat advisory from 9 p.m. Sunday until 9 p.m. Monday for Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Sumter, Greene, Hale, Perry, Marengo, Dallas, Autauga, Lowndes, Elmore, Montgomery, Macon, Bullock and Pike counties.

. The heat index could hit 109 in those areas on Monday.

SOUTH ALABAMA

* Excessive heat warning from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday for Choctaw, Washington, Clarke, Wilcox, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Crenshaw, Escambia, Covington, Mobile and Baldwin counties.

The weather service said the heat index could climb as high as 115 today.

* Excessive heat warning from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday for Geneva and Coffee counties. Heat index values up to 114 are expected.

* Heat advisory from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday for Dale, Houston and Henry counties. Heat index values up to 112 expected.

* Excessive heat watch from Monday morning until Monday evening for Mobile and Baldwin counties.

* Excessive heat watch from Monday morning until Monday evening for Houston and Geneva counties.

* Heat advisory from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday for Choctaw, Washington, Clarke, Wilcox, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Crenshaw, Escambia and Covington counties. Heat index values up to 111 will be possible.
