Keke Palmer’s Boyfriend Blasts Her Outfit Choice, Social Media Reacts
Keke #Keke
Darius Daulton, Keke Palmer’s boyfriend and the father of her son, is catching flack on social media after he openly criticized the new mom for what she wore at a recent Usher concert. On Wednesday, the fitness trainer quoted a video posted by the RNB Radar account on Twitter that showed Palmer wearing a sheer dress and wavy dark hair. In it Palmer was dancing at an Usher concert as the “Confessions” singer serenaded her. In his quote, Daulton wrote, “It’s the outfit tho.. You a mom.”
The initial tweet, which received thousands of quote retweets, sparked conversation, debate and criticism directed at Daulton. Many users called him out for shaming his partner who appeared to be having a good time.
As one tweet pointed out, “Don’t date a baddie if you’re gonna be this insecure.”
Doubling Down
After hours of call-outs, Daulton took to his Twitter again to issue another statement, doubling down on the matter.
“We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case,” he wrote.
This latest statement has since garnered over 20 thousand quote retweets with many accusing him of being a hypocrite. Many cited the fact that although Daulton and Plamer aren’t married they already share a son together, a fact that lies outside of the moral standards he claims to espouse.
As one person noted, “Man of the family” but you knocked her up without marrying her, she’s the breadwinner and also older than you. Dude, by traditional standards, if there was a ‘man of the house’ here it’s definitely NOT you.”
Keke’s (Non)Response
A few hours after Dalton posted his second statement, Palmer shared pictures of herself from the Usher concert. The images showed a closer look at the outfit at the center of the controversy. She made no reference to the ongoing online debate centering her and Daulton. In the first image, Palmer is seen puckering up seemingly sending a kiss to the camera. In the second she looks over her shoulder with her hands on her thighs.
Story continues
“I wish I had taken more pictures but we were running late!” Palmer wrote. “I am telling y’all right now, if you haven’t seen @usher YOU MUST GO!! HE WAS SO FABULOUS!!”
While Palmer made no reference to the ongoing drama, her followers made sure to respond to it in the comments.
“‘i wish i had taken more pictures’ ate him up in one chew,” one commenter quipped.
Another commenter directly addressed Daulton.
“You don’t criticize the mother of your children publicly. End of discussion,” they wrote.
Usher also commented on Palmer’s picture writing, “The Big Boss!! Thank U for coming.” And he seemingly referenced the drama in his first post to Meta’s new Threads app that launched Wednesday night.
“Am I trending yet?” Usher questioned on his singular post.
Digging Up The Past
Daulton, on the other hand, has since had his old tweets dug up. The tweets, some of which are from 2015, see the 29-year-old making pro-police brutality statements and sharing questionable views on domestic violence. In others, the father of one comments on his insecurities.
“When I get insecure about myself, I start to divert my issues instead of acknowledging it,” he wrote in 2020.
Some social media pointed out the tweet in particular didn’t age well.
“And this is exactly what your doing right now! Keke deserves BETTER!”
