  • Brown rice and white rice mainly differ in the amounts of nutrients. White rice is refined and, in this process, it loses many nutrients, leaving practically only the carbohydrate, whereas brown rice is more natural. It does not go through so many processes during manufacture, thus preserving its nutrients. So, the consumption of brown rice is healthier, but the caloric amounts are practically the same.

  • Brown rice is healthier than white rice. The former contains more dietary fiber from the bran. Dietary fiber is useful for calorie and weight management, binding of excess glucose and cholesterol in the intestine and removing them from the body. Fiber may also help improve bowel motility, thereby reducing the risk of constipation and colon cancer. Brown rice may also contain more naturally occurring B-vitamins than white rice.
