Joe Rogan vs. top vaccines expert: Elon Musk chooses side in $600K debate

Joe Rogan challenged Peter Hotez — leading vaccines expert who worked on COVID-19 vaccine Corbevax — to debate Democratic presidential candidate Robert R. Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaxxer, on his podcast.

Rogan, 55, offered Hotex $100,000 to a charity of his choosing if he appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience for a vaccines debate against the nephew of US president John F. Kennedy.

The controversial podcast host doubled down on his challenge when Hotez replied by saying that Rogan knows how to find him for a private conversation.

“This is a non answer,” Rogan tweeted. “I challenged you publicly because you publicly quote tweeted and agreed with that dogshit Vice article. If you’re really serious about what you stand for, you now have a massive opportunity for a debate that will reach the largest audience a discussion like this has ever had. If you think someone else is better qualified, suggest that person.”

Rogan was referring to a Vice News article slamming Spotify for not doing enough to stop “Rogan’s vaccine misinformation.” Hotez quote tweeted the article and all hell broke loose.

Twitter’s billionaire owner Elon Musk replied to Rogan’s tweet with a pair of fire emojis and poked fun at Hotez for “hating charity.”

Musk, 51, then said Hotez wouldn’t debate Kennedy in public because “he knows he’s wrong” and then expanded on his stance.

Hotez, 65, fired back at Musk by stating that 200,000 Americans perished during the COVID waves due to vaccine misinformation.

His facts fell upon deaf ears as Rogan’s $100K offer kept growing as several anti-vaxxers pledged more money. The payment is currently at $600K and counting.
