On Sunday night, undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. faced off against John Gotti III in an exhibition match. But the match surely did not go as planned as a chaotic scene ensued when the fight was stopped in the sixth round.
Both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and John Gotti III spent the majority of the match talking trash to each other, making it increasingly difficult for referee Kenny Bayless to control the match. As a result, he suddenly called off the match in the sixth round, and absolute chaos ensued as a result.
“That’s it, that’s it,” the referee said as he tried to stop the match, but Gotti was not interested in stopping the fight. Instead, he jumped around the referee and continued swinging at Mayweather. As a result, people from Mayweather’s side flooded into the ring to defend him while match officials tried to stop the fighting.
Eventually, after both teams entered the ring and both Mayweather and Gotti were forced to their corners to break up the altercation.
Mayweather officially retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an undefeated 50-0 record, but he’s been fighting in various exhibition bouts ever since, even facing YouTuber Logan Paul in a fight in 2021. This was another one of those exhibition fights, but it’s safe to say it was the least organized.
