Michail Antonio backed to sign for foreign club after West Ham source’s reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Michail Antonio may be keen on a move abroad if he leaves West Ham this summer.

But speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender insisted that Antonio suits David Moyes’ style and may be best staying where he is.

On Monday (15 May), sources told this site that the 33-year-old could pursue a summer exit in search of more regular first-team football.

The Hammers are keen to add another forward in the upcoming window despite the recent arrivals of Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings this season.

Antonio was subject of reported interest from fellow Premier League sides Nottingham Forest, Everton and Wolves in the January window but ultimately remained at the London Stadium.

The Jamaica international will have a year left on his West Ham deal at the end of the season with the option of a further 12 month extension.

When asked where he sees Antonino ending up if he does leave the Hammers, Hutton told Football Insider: “I have no idea.

“Part of me just thinks that the grass is not always greener. He has done really well where he is, he suits that David Moyes team. I have no idea where he would try and go.

“He is not that young any more, he has had issues when it comes to hamstring problems and different things. Does he fancy moving abroad or does he want to stick with where he is?

“West Ham have had a difficult season in terms of league form but have an opportunity to win the Conference League. I am really not sure where he could go if he was looking to leave.“

In other news, Kieran Maguire has suggested West Ham fans ‘ignored’ by Uefa as police intervene.
