Jaylen Brown pitches Jayson Tatum’s signature JT1s after Celtics dominate

BOSTON — Was it the shoes?
Nobody has ever scored 51 points in a playoff Game 7 who wasn’t wearing Tatum 1s, Jayson Tatum’s new signature shoes that he debuted in the All-Star game. Wearing his signature footwear, Tatum put the Celtics on his back and led Boston into the Eastern Conference finals.
After Game 6, Jaylen Brown told Celtics fans to reach down deep and bring noise and energy for Game 7. They listened and delivered. So Brown playfully added a new set of instructions.
“Everybody should go buy the new JTs that he just dropped,” Brown said.
The Tatum 1 is part of Nike’s Jordan Brand. They come in four colorways: “St. Louis,” “Barbershop,” “Zoo,” and “Pink Lemonade.”
Whether it was his sneakers or something else, Tatum delivered a signature performance in Game 7.
“It was Jayson Tatum. J.T. got it going. Get out of that man’s way,” Brown said. “He just got it rolling and there was nothing they could do to stop him. They tried to double-team him and it just gave open looks to other guys. When J.T. is playing like that, we’re going to be extremely hard to beat. Way to step up. Great performance by Jayson.”
