Sixers’ star Joel Embiid named to All-NBA 1st Team, Knicks’ Julius Randle makes 3rd team

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid, the NBA MVP, was named to the All-NBA 1st Team on Wednesday, while Julius Randle of the Knicks made the 3rd Team.
Embiid is a five-time All-NBA selection who won his first MVP this season after averaging 33.1 points to win his second straight scoring title, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
He and the Sixers lead the Boston Celtics 3-2 in the Eastern Conference semifinals and can advance to their first conference finals appearance since 2001 with a win in Game 6 on Thursday in Philadelphia.
Embiid was joined on the 1st Team by Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, who finished third in the MVP voting; Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks; Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder; and Jayson Tatum of the Celtics.

The 2nd Team featured Jaylen Brown of the Celtics, Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat, Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors, 2023 MVP runner-up and two-time MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets; and Donovan MItchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Randle was joined on the 3rd Team by LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings.
Randle averaged 25.1 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists for the Knicks, who trailed the Heat 3-1 entering Wednesday’s Game 5 at Madison Square Garden.
Randle, Gilgeous-Alexander and Fox all played for John Calipari at Kentucky.
