Report: Ex-PNE captain lined up to replace Blackpool-bound manager

Former Preston North End captain Callum Davidson could now head to Dundee as Gary Bowyer is linked with a Blackpool return.
After a difficult season, Davidson lost his job as St Johnstone boss in April.
That decision really showed how quickly football can change.
Davidson won a domestic coup double with St Johnstone in 2021 and guided the club into Europe.
Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Just a few months later, The Courier reported in December 2021 that Davidson was a contender for the PNE job after Frankie McAvoy’s exit.
The job went to Ryan Lowe in the end, and Davidson suffered a downturn in form with St Johnstone before losing his job last month.
Davidson could make a swift return to management though – and it may involve Blackpool.
Dundee have today confirmed the exit of boss Gary Bowyer despite achieving promotion back to the Scottish Premiership.
The Daily Record claim that the reason for Bowyer’s exit is that he is now poised to become the new Blackpool manager.
PNE’s bitter rivals have suffered relegation to League One and are now seeking a permanent successor to Mick McCarthy.

Bowyer appears to be their man and that would mean a return to Bloomfield Road.
Bowyer managed Blackpool between 2016 and 2018, with his Dundee exit now paving the way for a comeback.
The Daily Record’s report also states that Davidson is now the favourite to replace Bowyer in the Dundee dugout.
Dundee seemingly aren’t worried about Davidson’s struggles at St Johnstone and are ready to give him another go in the top flight.
Blackpool making a move to inadvertently help a former PNE captain isn’t something you hear about every day, but Davidson stands to benefit from Bowyer’s imminent return to the Tangerines.
