Brock Lesnar ended up covered in his own blood during an utterly gruesome WWE match this weekend.
The legendary former world champion, who has conquered the worlds of both professional wrestling and the UFC in the past, left fans stunned as his blood covered the ring at Backlash.
On Saturday night, Lesnar was in a grudge match against Cody Rhodes after beating him down on the Raw after WrestleMania last month.
Despite the emotionally charged storyline, viewers could be forgiven for not expecting this level of brutality when they fought in San Juan, Puerto Rico shortly after Bad Bunny beat Damian Priest.
Bunny and Priest’s match was a Street Fight, but Brock and Cody brought the blood after the Beast Incarnate went headfirst into the exposed turnbuckle.
The referee did put on his black gloves and had a towel in the ring, doing his best to clean up Brock – but not before fans saw him wearing the so-called crimson mask.
He still fought on, leaving himself, Cody and the ring covered in blood as the two stars delivered in the main event.
It looked like Brock might even win as he put the American Nightmare in his feared Kimura Lock, but the former Intercontinental Champion turned it into a pin to score a shock win.

The Beast looked taken aback as Cody made a swift exit, and fans still couldn’t believe what they witnessed from Brock throughout the match.
‘BROCK LESNAR’S FACE OMG,’ tweeted one shocked viewer, while another admitted: ‘Bro, Brock Lesnar was COVERED in blood. That made me uncomfy. (sic)’
‘Have never seen Brock bleeding this much,’ pointed out a third fan, with a different person writing: ‘Just watched the Brock and Cody match oh my god that’s a lot of blood.’

And yet another viewer said: ‘Cody Rhodes just had blood in a main event match of WWE PPV and kicked out of an F5 and beat Brock Lesnar clean. Can’t get any cooler than that.’
WWE Backlash is available to stream on the WWE Network. Raw (Mondays) and SmackDown (Fridays) air weekly at 1am on BT Sport 1.
