Boston Celtics big man Al Horford and Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid have had their fair share of battles over the years. Horford is a proven big man who has had a long string of consistent success during his time in the NBA while Embiid has been a dominant big man his entire career.
Horford spent one season in Philadelphia in the 2019-20 season and it didn’t go as planned. He and Embiid, along with Ben Simmons, were an awkward fit and Horford was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2020 offseason.
Now back with the Celtics, Horford is battling Embiid once again in the playoffs to get back to the finals. As the series shifts to Philadelphia, the veteran out of Florida was asked about Embiid winning the MVP award:
Well-deserved. The guy was great this season. By far, he was the best player in our league this year. He deserves the award.
Embiid and the Sixers look to regain control of this semifinal series on Friday when they host Horford and the Celtics at 7:30 p.m. EDT from the Wells Fargo Center.
