Lakers fan Snoop Dogg chirps Warriors’ Jordan Poole: ‘Keep shooting’

Snoop Dogg may have smoked weed with the “We Believe” Warriors. And sat courtside next to E-40 during multiple Cavs-Warriors NBA Finals. And gifted Steph Curry a Death Row chain last summer. But at his core, the Long Beach rapper is a Lakers fan. There’s no question about which side he’s taking in the looming Warriors-Lakers series.
Appearing on ESPN Tuesday morning, the rapper had jokes about Golden State guard Jordan Poole. “We’re gonna be probably doubling Steph,” Coach Dogg predicted. “So somebody else is going to be open. Jordan Poole, keep shooting. I like the way you been missing, brother.” (“First Take” semiregularly has the rapper on to get some takes off about his beloved Lakers and Steelers.)
Even Warriors fans would agree that Poole is low-hanging fruit. The fourth-year guard was something like the worst version of himself in the Kings series, combining poor shooting (just 25% from three) with out-of-control play and hard-to-watch turnovers. Lower lows are possible, too. Poole appeared to brush off Draymond Green during the Dubs’ Game 6 loss, and Steph Curry’s cinematic “get on the bus” speech was reportedly aimed at Poole.
Poole was reportedly struggling with an ankle injury at the beginning of the series, and the Dubs have publicly backed Poole through what Steve Kerr admitted was “frustrating” play. If Poole is going to mature into part of the dynastic core, then maybe he’ll be proudly quoting Snoop Dogg in a month.
