Celtics vs. 76ers score: Live updates as Jayson Tatum and Boston host Philly in Game 1

The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers start their second-round series on Monday night in Boston. Both teams entered the postseason with title expectations, but Joel Embiid’s health has clouded the outlook for Philly. The 76ers star and MVP finalist is officially ruled out Monday night with a knee injury, and his status moving forward in the series is uncertain. Here’s how to watch Game 1.
The Celtics dispatched the Hawks in the first round, needing six games to put away Atlanta. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both averaged more than 26 points per game against the Hawks. Boston, favored in Game 1 and in the series, won three of four times in the regular season against Philadelphia and the team is looking for its third Eastern Conference Finals appearance in the last four years.
The 76ers were the only team in the playoffs to pull off a first-round sweep as they ousted the Brooklyn Nets in four games. They won Game 4 in that series without Embiid, who has not played since April 20. Despite the long layoff, Embiid had still not been able to run or do much on the practice court leading into the series. His knee injury could be a big blow for a 76ers team trying to reach the conference finals for the first time since 2001.
