He left the team’s Game 3 victory early with the injury (sitting out of the second half entirely) and has not been seen on the floor since. The ailment has been described as a right shoulder contusion.

New York did not announce who would take over for Grimes in the starting five but Josh Hart filled in serviceably when called upon to make his first start in blue and orange. Hart has looked like anything but a playoff virgin over the first four games of the series, following up a double-double in the opening game with 19 points and seven rebounds in Sunday’s 102-93 win that put the Knicks up 3-1.

Also out is substitute big man Jericho Sims, who has likewise been dealing with a shoulder issue. Wednesday marks the Knicks’ first of three opportunities to earn their first postseason advancement since 2013’s opening round against Boston. If necessary, Game 6 returns to Madison Square Garden on Friday.
