APR 23 DERRICK WHITE FACES OFF AGAINST DEJOUNTE MURRAY
The Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks are trading blows in their first round series and there’s a touch of San Antonio Spurs drama in the series.
Dejounte Murray’s Hawks won Game 3 on Friday after losing the first two games in Boston to Derrick White’s Celtics.
Now, Murray and the Hawks look to even the series against White and the Celtics. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on TNT.
APR 21 WEMBANYAMA DECLARES
The almost-certain No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA Draft is official.
Victor Wembanyama announced his intentions to declare for the NBA Draft on ESPN Friday.
The San Antonio Spurs, along with the Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets, hold the highest odds to grab the No. 1 pick and take Wembanyama.
APR 19 SPURS RETURNING TO AUSTIN, MEXICO CITY
The San Antonio Spurs are continuing a tradition built this season.
Bexar County officials approved the Spurs to have the ability to host two games in Austin and one game in Mexico City for next season, just as they did this past year.
The game in Mexico City sold out within 48 hours and the team performed well in its two Austin games earlier this month.
Despite the neutral site games, the Spurs say they are not looking to relocate but rather “expand the brand.”
APR 16 FORMER SPURS COMPETING IN PLAYOFFS
The San Antonio Spurs may not be participating in this year’s playoffs, but 14 former players still have a chance at a ring this year …

APR 13 LAKERS LEGEND MAGIC JOHNSON TO OWN PART OF COMMANDERS
Los Angeles Lakers icon Magic Johnson is making another big purchase.
According to sources, Philadelphia 76ers governor Josh Harris is leading an ownership group (which features Johnson) to purchase the Washington Commanders for $6 billion from embattled owner Dan Snyder.
Johnson is part of ownership groups within Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer and the WNBA … and now he checks the NFL off his list.
APR 9 STEPHEN SILAS FIRED BY ROCKETS
The Houston Rockets will have new leadership next season after parting ways with Stephen Silas, according to The Athletic.
Silas went 59-177 in his three-year tenure with the Rockets and Houston was in the bottom three in the NBA standings in each season with the longtime assistant at the helm.
The Rockets will begin their search for a new head coach immediately, with Nick Nurse and Ime Udoka among the leading candidates.

APR 4 MAGIC BIDS FOR COMMANDERS
Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson is waiting to hear back from Dan Snyder after his, Josh Harris and Mitchell Rales’ bid to buy the Washington Commanders was submitted.
“Our bid is in. We don’t know what’s going to happen,” Johnson said on “The Today Show.” “We’ll see what happens with Mr. Snyder making that decision, but we’ll be excited about it.”
Johnson, Harris and Rales reportedly submitted their bid in late March for a record $6 billion and is bidding alongside Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
APR 3 LEBRON ON ANGEL REESE
LeBron James has spoken his peace in the Angel Reese debate, and the Los Angeles Lakers star issued some online support for the LSU Tigers basketball star who taunted Iowa’s Caitlin Clark at the end of the national title game.
“FACTS!!!! Love to see it,” LeBron wrote in response to a tweet about Reese’s gesture.
LeBron then retweeted some takes about the trash talking between Reese and Clark – who, for the record, has been “guilty” of using the same “You can’t see me!” gesture.
“If you praised Caitlin Clark as competitive, fiery, and passionate for doing the “You can’t See me” celebration and are criticizing Angel Reese for the same we already know!!” former NFL player Ryan Clark tweeted.
APR 1 NEW CBA
The NBA and NBPA agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement early Saturday morning, per ESPN.
“Deal includes In-Season Tournament, 65-game minimum for postseason awards, new limitations on highest spending teams and expanded opportunities for trades and free agency for mid and smaller team payrolls, sources tell ESPN,” Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted.
MAR 30 JULIUS RANDLE OUT FOR KNICKS
New York Knicks All-Star Julius Randle will be sidelined for at least two weeks with a sprained ankle, according to The Athletic.
Randle won’t play for the rest of the regular season, but could be back in time to play in the first round of the playoffs, which start Apr. 15.
MAR 28 JEREMY SOCHAN GIVES BACK TO AUSTIN COMMUNITY
Ahead of the San Antonio Spurs’ “I-35 Series”, which will see the Spurs host two home games in Austin, rookie Jeremy Sochan paid a visit to local fans in the area as a part of a meet-and-greet event.
Sochan and the Spurs Coyote took pictures, signed autographs and even bagged groceries at a local H-E-B Plus! for customers as a way to give back to the community.

MAR 28 SAMANIC SIGNS WITH JAZZ
A former member of the San Antonio Spurs is getting another shot in the NBA.
According to The Athletic, the Utah Jazz is signing Luka Samanic to a 10-day contract.
Samanic has been tearing it up in the G League, averaging 20.6 points and 10.8 rebounds with the Maine Celtics.
Before his G League run, Samanic played 36 games for the Spurs from March 2020 until May 2021.
MAR 24 KEVIN DURANT COMING BACK
Kevin Durant is about to return to the court.
According to The Athletic, Durant is targeting Wednesday as a potential return date when the Phoenix Suns face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Durant and the Suns face the San Antonio Spurs on Apr. 4.
MAR 21 KNICKS LEGEND WILLIS REED PASSES AWAY
The New York Knicks and the NBA community is mourning the loss of Hall of Famer Willis Reed at the age of 80.
Reed won two championships and Finals MVP awards with the Knicks and was the 1970 NBA MVP. He was also named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
MAR 16 MJ TO SELL HORNETS?
Michael Jordan has owned a stake in the Charlotte Hornets for 17 years, but that may soon come to an end.
According to ESPN, Jordan is in “serious talks” to sell the franchise to a pair of buyers, including Hornets minority owner Gabe Plotkin.
