The Clippers will look to capitalize after stealing one on the road.

The LA Clippers shocked the NBA world when they stole Game 1 on the road against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night. Without Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers defeated the fully loaded Phoenix Suns featuring Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and company.

Fortunately for the Clippers, they’ll continue to have Kawhi Leonard as they march forward into Phoenix for Game 2.

Just how impactful was Kawhi Leonard against the Phoenix Suns in Game 1? In the second half, Kawhi Leonard outscored Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Chris Paul by himself. Leonard scored 25 points, and the Suns’ trio scored 24 points.

One could imagine that the Phoenix Suns will be doing everything in their power to make sure that Kawhi does not repeat his performance of Game 1. While the Clippers are deep enough to have other players impact the game, Kawhi is the head of the snake. He’ll have the ball more than any other player, and Phoenix will be trying to deny him of any post-ups. One thing is for sure though, the Clippers are so shorthanded that they likely wouldn’t be able to survive a bad Kawhi Leonard game.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how the Phoenix Suns counter the LA Clippers in Game 2. The team only really went six deep against the Clippers and is deeper than playing like that. Adjustments will be made.
