Stranger Things is one of the most popular shows on Netflix, so it only makes sense that the streaming service is planning to expand the series into a franchise.
Stars such as Millie Bobby Brown, 19, and Finn Wolfhard, 20, who play teens in the Fantasy/Horror series will return for the fifth and final season later this year.
Millie has moved on to several other projects, including writing her first novel, and Finn has signed to star in a Ghostbusters sequel.
Instead of a new live action series, Netflix has decided to go forward with an animated program, Variety reported.

Details about the new show being developed by Eric Robles – known for his work on Random! Cartoons, Fanboy & Chum Chum, and Glitch Techs – are being kept under wraps.
Show creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, said in a statement, ‘We’ve always dreamed of an animated ‘Stranger Things’ in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving.’
‘To see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling.’
‘We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…’
Netflix announced a live-action Stranger Things sequel and a stage show in July 2022, but no word on what that series focus on, or will be released.
The creators did reveal it would not focus on characters such as like Millie’s Eleven or Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington.
The stage show, Stranger Things: First Shadow, is set to open on London’s West End at the Phoenix theater later this year.
The play’s synopsis describes the plot as ‘Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town.’

The play will be directed by Tony winner Stephen Daldry, with co-direction from BAFTA winner Justin Martin.
