Washington Nationals vs Atlanta Braves Pitching Matchup: Who Has the Advantage?

The Atlanta Braves take on the Washington Nationals to start the 2023 MLB season.
The Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves are set to start the 2023 MLB season off in a three-game series. As always, one of the key factors in the outcome will be the performance of the starting pitchers.
The Nationals will be led by Patrick Corbin, who had a difficult season in 2022, and will be followed by Josiah Gray and McKenzie Gore, two younger pitchers with less experience.
Corbin struggled last year, posting one of the highest ERAs in baseball with a 6.31. Although he showed promise, it will be a tough matchup for him against the Braves’ starting pitcher, Max Fried, who has had success against Washington in the past. Gray and Gore are also relatively inexperienced and will have a hard time keeping the ball in the yard against Atlanta’s lineup, especially with Ronald Acuña Jr. back and healthy.
On the Braves side, Fried will start the first game and will be followed by Spencer Strider and Jared Shuster. Fried and Strider have both done well against the Nationals in the past, and Strider may even break double-digit strikeouts on Saturday. Shuster is a rookie making his first start in the majors, and although he did well in spring training, he may struggle with nerves in his debut.
Overall, the Braves seem to have the advantage in the pitching matchup, with more experienced and successful starters. However, baseball can be unpredictable, and anything can happen on any given day. Fans of both teams will be eagerly watching to see which pitching staff can come out on top in this exciting series.
