The Scots won their opening game on the road to Germany against Cyprus on Saturday courtesy of a late brace from the Manchester United midfielder, following John McGinn’s opener.

Manager Steve Clarke highlighted his side’s incomplete pressing game as the only downside of that 3-0 win and that could make McTominay a prime candidate to enter the starting XI this evening.

Che Adams will miss the game after picking up a calf injury against Cyprus. Lawrence Shankland has replaced the Southampton striker in the squad but Lyndon Dykes is expected to get the nod up front for the visit of Spain.

Celtic right-back Anthony Ralston has also withdrawn due to a knock. As for Spain, Joselu made his case to start at Hampden by, much like McTominay, coming off the bench to score twice in his side’s 3-0 win on Saturday.
