‘Suspicious’ brush fires in New Bedford, Dartmouth and Westport discovered, Massachusetts State Police assisting fire officials on Interstate 195

The Massachusetts State Police are assisting authorities in New Bedford, Dartmouth and Westport as they battle several “suspicious” brush fires along Interstate 195 on Tuesday afternoon.
The fires, which police say are about 100 to 300 yards off the highway, are on both the east and westbound lanes of I-195. The fires have closed the right lane of Exit 13 toward Route 140, police said.
State police have ruled the fires suspicious. The brush fires extend from Westport into Dartmouth and New Bedford as well.
State police didn’t reveal a specific number of fires.
Massachusetts State Police troopers and its Air Wing have been providing assistance in battling the fires.
