Rancho Bernardo held strong at the third spot in this week’s top 10 after posting three dominant victories last week that concluded with a 15-1 win at La Quinta on Saturday.

1. Granite Hills (4-0)
Granite Hills took care of business with home wins over Cathedral Catholic and Poway last week. Sophomore two-way star Brenden Lewis has seven strikeouts through three relief appearances.

2. La Costa Canyon (2-1)
La Costa Canyon bounced back with road wins over Santana and Del Norte, outscoring the two teams 19-6. Junior Kalen Applefield has five extra-base hits in 11 plate appearances on the year.

3. Rancho Bernardo (4-0)
The Broncos went 3-0 last week, beating Mission Hills twice and winning a game at La Quinta on Saturday. Freshman Nathan Bembenek had six hits including two home runs in the three victories.

4. Eastlake (5-0)
The Titans went 3-0 last week finishing with shutouts against West Hills and Steele Canyon. Junior Jake Davis struck out seven batters across five shutout innings on Friday.

5. St. Augustine (4-1)
St. Augustine captured the Bill Whitaker Classic with a 10-1 victory over San Marcos. Sophomore Anthony Thompkins was 4-4 with a double in the win.

6. Cathedral Catholic (2-1)
The Dons were held to one hit, losing at top-ranked Granite Hills, 5-1. They’ll play three games this week including road games at Montgomery and Otay Ranch.

7. Christian (3-1)
Christian lost for the first time on the year against No. 5 St. Augustine, 8-3, but bounced back with a 5-1 win over Francis Parker. Junior Ashton McCurty struck out nine batters in Thursday’s win over Parker.

8. Scripps Ranch (3-0)
The Falcons have opened with three wins thanks to excellent pitching. They recorded shutouts against Point Loma and Patrick Henry while holding Torrey Pines to one run.

9. Torrey Pines (3-1)
Torrey Pines committed three errors leading to three unearned runs in Tuesday’s 3-1 loss to Scripps Ranch. Friday’s matchup against Point Loma was rained out.

10. Carlsbad (4-0)
Carlsbad was aggressive on the bases, stealing 10 bases on the way to wins over Santa Fe Christian and San Dieguito.
