HAZLET, NJ: Crime in our communities is steadily on the rise, NJ’s current bail reform has criminals back out on the streets in no time, and now gun ownership in NJ is more popular than ever. With that combo comes a very important need for gun safety programs.
Mike Duncan and Joe Ahlert are the owners and operators of Duncan Defense Consultants, a busy private practice offering classes and training for ‘everything gun smart’. Duncan and Ahlert are now expanding their existing successful business with a new storefront location opening very soon in the Airport Plaza,1332 Hwy 36 Hazlet .
Duncan Defense Consultants provides everything from assistance with how to apply for firearms, to gun safety and concealed carry training, guidance on how to choose the right firearm and practice and training at their outdoor shooting range. Now at their soon-to-open storefront location, Duncan and Ahlert will be featuring a wide variety of firearms available for purchase. If you take a look at their facebook, you can clearly see the gun cabinets are filling up! The location will provide a one-stop-shop for the firearm enthusiast or the person totally new to the concept of owning a firearm.
Duncan and Ahlert have decades of experience in defense training.
Duncan is a 15-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired Lieutenant of the Hazlet Police Department where he served as firearms instructor from 2002-2019. He is an NRA certified instructor, serving the NJ Department of Criminal Justice Police Training Commission, in handgun, shotgun, patrol rifle and sniper instruction.
Ahlert is an NRA certified instructor and active competitive shooter. In addition to armed defense, Ahlert also greatly values the art of unarmed self-defense, holding a 3rd degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jui Jitsu, studying under world renowned fighter, Holmdel resident; Renzo Gracie. A Jui Jitsu instructor himself, Ahlert has trained military, law enforcement professional athletes, and hobbyists for over 20 years.
