UPDATE (10:19 a.m.): NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports “The #Saints are closing in on a deal with QB David Carr, sources tell me and @RapSheet. After nine seasons with the #Raiders, the four-time Pro Bowl selection is headed to New Orleans. The first QB domino is about to fall and one NFC South team has its starter.”

When Peter King speaks, the NFL listens.

Which is why what he wrote Monday in his weekly Football Morning in America column is worth a second look.

The NBC Sports NFL insider took a spin on the quarterback carousel and came up with the following predictions:

The QB dominoes should start falling this week. Best guesses from my GM crowd-sourcing: Derek Carr to the Saints, Aaron Rodgers no one knows, truly (but I’m guessing Jets), Lamar Jackson and Daniel Jones franchised, Jimmy Garoppolo being the beneficiary of some QB uncertainty sometime in March.

The New York Giants were hoping to finish a deal with Jones last week, but appear set to use the franchise tag on him by Tuesday’s deadline. Same goes for Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.

Carr, the former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback, is the top signal-caller available on the open market.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports “While the #Panthers and #Saints remain in the conversation for Derek Carr, the former Pro Bowl quarterback has a slight lean toward the #Jets as his next home as of now, per source. Nothing is final, but Jets — who are linked to Aaron Rodgers — have made an impression.”

However King reports “The Derek Carr market is lukewarm. At best.”

A lot hinges on Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who still hasn’t decided if he wants to retire or return for a 19th NFL season. And if he wants to return, does he want to say in Green Bay or move on to greener pastures.
