‘The View’: Alyssa Farah Griffin Calls King Charles “Petty and Cringey” for Evicting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle From Frogmore Cottage

We know how much The View — and Sunny Hostin, in particular — love to dish on the royal drama. And during today’s episode of the talk show, the panel weighed in on the latest plot twist: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s eviction from Frogmore Cottage.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed earlier this week that they were asked to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage, despite having lived in California for three years. Joy Behar, who was filling in as moderator for Whoopi Goldberg, added that King Charles reportedly started the eviction process the day after Harry’s explosive memoir Spare was released.
Regarding the controversial remarks Harry wrote about his stepmother, Camilla — which labeled her as a “villain” and the “third person” in his parents’ marriage — Hostin said, “I didn’t detect any lies in what he was saying.”
She continued, “In my view, no child of divorce really loves the divorce, because I’m a child of divorce. I’m certainly not gonna like the woman that was in between my parents’ marriage talking dirty on the phone,” before adding, “He didn’t like it, he didn’t lie. I say let them keep their little Frogmore Cottage.”
While Alyssa Farah Griffin said King Charles’ decision to give the Sussexes the boot is “petty and cringey,” she said she understood how the book could have led to the situation.
“I just finished reading Spare and as somebody who’s been open, and probably more open than I should, that I have estrangements in my family, you can’t just do 300 pages of everything you were wronged by your family and then expect to peacefully live on the family property,” she said.
Although Griffin said she “really want[s] to like Harry” as she’s a fan of his charitable work, she felt as though “this is a lot of stuff that should be worked out in therapy, not in the public eye.”
Meanwhile, Behar got one final dig in at the family, who reportedly downgraded a disgraced Prince Andrew to Harry and Meghan’s former home.
“You know who else they chose to live in Frogmore? Prince Andrew is coming, right?” Behar said. “So they’re just as corrupt as anybody else.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
