Bruno Fernandes was criticized by two former Manchester United captains for his conduct during Sunday’s 7-0 loss at Liverpool.

Gary Neville and Roy Keane were both very unimpressed with the current skipper’s body language and lack of composure.

Fernandes also let himself down by pushing assistant referee Adam Nunn, who had tried to calm him down in the 81st minute.

The Portuguese midfielder was very lucky not to receive a yellow card, or even a red.

But perhaps Fernandes wanted to be removed from the game.

Fernandes appeared to complain when United manager Erik ten Hag subbed off Marcus Rashford instead of him in the 85th minute.

Neville, who was commentating on the game for Sky Sports, reacted by saying: “Some of Fernandes’ behavior in the second half has been a disgrace.

“He is holding his hands up asking: ‘Why am I not coming off?’

“Ten Hag has dealt with setbacks in the past but this is a big one.

“They have fallen to pieces, lost their heads, their shape and their discipline.”

Neville later added: “The second half has been an absolute disgrace, a shambles, epitomized by captain Bruno Fernandes who has been embarrassing at times.”

Keane, who was also working on the game for Sky Sports, was equally unimpressed.

“A shocking day,” said Keane. “The senior players were embarrassing. They didn’t show any leadership skills.”

Keane then accused of Fernandes of displaying “disgraceful body language” before he added: “You wouldn’t be happy with him in your dressing room.”
