Tracy Chapman Delivers Rare TV Performance of ‘Talkin’ ‘Bout a Revolution’ Ahead of 2020 Election

Tracy Chapman made a rare appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday (Nov. 2) to deliver a pre-Election Day performance of her classic single “Talkin’ ‘Bout a Revolution.”

“Don’t you know/ Talkin’ bout a revolution/ It sounds like a whisper/ And finally the tables are starting to turn/ Talkin’ bout a revolution/ It’s finally the tables are starting to turn/ Talkin’ bout a revolution, go vote/ Talkin’ bout a revolution, go vote,” the singer-songwriter crooned against a simple black backdrop while strumming her acoustic guitar — changing the lyrics of the final stanza to encourage viewers to vote.

As Chapman quietly stepped out of the shot, the word “vote” was also revealed behind her on a small placard. “This is the most important election of our lifetime. It is imperative that everyone vote to restore our democracy,” she said in a statement about the performance.
