Roberts, Khadra, Bielik – Birmingham City’s injury news ahead of Luton Town clash

John Eustace is hoping Marc Roberts will be available for this weekend’s clash with Luton Town.

The 32-year-old has not played since January 2 after straining his hamstring against Middlesbrough in the first game of 2023, but could return against the Hatters.

Krystian Bielik remains a doubt but Reda Khadra is unlikely to be ready having limped off with his own hamstring problem in the FA Cup clash with former club Blackburn Rovers. Troy Deeney and Dion Sanderson are set to miss out.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s 3pm kick-off, Birmingham City’s head coach said: “Robbo hopefully might be in the squad for Saturday, Reda is on the grass, I think he will be joining back in with the group on Monday. That’s something we will have a look at tomorrow. Both will be in contention certainly for next weekend.

“Krystian will be touch and go for the weekend. We will have to have to have a look at that, but fingers crossed he will be OK.” Bielik was caught with a heavy tackle in the loss at Huddersfield and was stretchered off.

Injured youngsters Jobe Bellingham and Josh Williams are nearing a return but, as previously reported, Tate Campbell’s season is over.

Eustace explained: “Jobe is on the grass as well, he is still a week or so away. Joshy I think might be joining back in on Monday as well, which will be good. Tate’s gone and had surgery on his hamstring, and that went very well as well.”
