Paddy Pimblett discusses controversial decision win at UFC 282

Logan Paul has called for Paddy Pimblett to switch up to his weight class to secure a fight between the pair in the UFC.

Paul has made a career for himself in the boxing ring since making his debut as an influencer, which culminated in a bumper exhibition meeting with Floyd Mayweather. The YouTube star has also been competing in the WWE and is making a big name for himself in combat sports, which has seen him since heavily linked with an appearance in the UFC, which is largely down to his good relationship with president Dana White.

UFC announcer Bruce Buffer recently confirmed that White entertained the opportunity of putting him in the cage, months after Paul first stated his plan and potential opponent in Pimblett. The Liverpudlian has himself suggested he would be open to a showdown with the influencer, but it would be extremely difficult to arrange given the size discrepancy.

However, Paul has insisted that the fight could still happen providing Pimblett agrees to pile on the pounds and forego his run at 155lb. “I think it’s actually the opposite. I think Paddy has done nothing about it, I’ve been trying to fight him for a while,” Paul said during an interview with KIIS 1065 alongside KSI when discussing a potential battle.

“The issue is he’s locked up in his UFC contract and to get him out of that to come box me would be an issue. I would happily go to the UFC but we are at different weight classes. If he’s willing to come up to my weight class in the UFC, I’d be more than happy to beat the sh*t out of Paddy The Baddy.”

Pimblett is currently campaigning at 155lb in the UFC where he recently picked up his latest win in controversial fashion against Jared Gordon late last year. The Liverpudlian has generated a huge profile already since signing with the promotion, which is largely down to his brash talking personality outside of the cage.

Paul equally has a large profile drafted over from his sensational rise in the world of social media, but a fight between the pair would likely generate significant interest. But Pimblett is willing to overcome obstacles to secure the fight and believes he will be able to climb to 185lb.

“I’ve told you all, he knows who the boy is, he knows who the face of the UFC is now and it’s me,” Pimblett told Jamal Niaz when talking to Seconds Out. “I don’t care what weight he wants to fight at. I’d fight him at 185. I’d probably get him down to 175 or something and I’d fight him at that but I’d fight him at 185.”
