Multiple injuries reported in shooting at El Paso mall

Police swarmed an El Paso, Tex., mall following reports of a shooting Wednesday evening.

Gunfire was heard in the food court of Cielo Vista mall, according to police.

Multiple people were wounded, sources told local TV stations.

No suspects were immediately detained, and police said the scene was “still active” as of about 6 p.m. local time.

In August 2019, a gunman fatally shot 23 people at a Walmart in El Paso. The shooter, Patrick Crusius, pleaded guilty to 90 federal crimes last week and will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Wednesday’s shooting comes on the heels of a horrifying massacre at Michigan State University in which three students were killed.
