On Sunday night, the Kansas City Chiefs secured their second Super Bowl title in four seasons in thrilling fashion. The always outspoken Travis Kelce fought for his right to party in the game, scoring the Chiefs’ opening drive touchdown on the way to victory.

Kelce faced off with his podcast partner and older brother Jason, marking it the first time brothers have met in battle at the Super Bowl. The younger brother prevailed with the victory, but the week leading up to Sunday proved to be more about the family name than the teams they represented. The All-Pro tight end showed his emotional appreciation for the family during his Super Bowl post-game press conference.

“There’s nothing you can really say to a loved one in that situation like that,” said Kelce as he held back tears at the podium. “You joke around all the time and say that you want to be your brother on the biggest stage ever. But it’s, um, it’s a weird feeling. It’s a weird feeling, and that team has had great leadership and great coaches; Obviously, it came down to the end. And we got all the respect in the world for those Eagles, man, but, um, there’s nothing really I could say to him other than I love him. And that he played a hell of a year, a hell of a season.”

The Kelce brothers started their highly successful “New Heights Show” podcast before the beginning of the season, chronicling their weekly thoughts on everything in football and the world. As everyone got to know the brothers better, the same could be said for their supportive mother, Donna, who made many appearances on top shows discussing her boys ahead of the big game.

“I feel like this was the happiest year of my life, man,” said Kelce. “And both off the field on the field to see my family being in all its glory, get all the flowers. My mom be the center of attention on the Jumbotron before the game on the biggest stage. Being able to get closer with my brother throughout the season and then meet him at the mountaintop it’s the best feeling in the world, man. I’ll tell you what. I don’t know how many I got left, but I’m sure gonna cherish this one forever.”

The emotions were publicly displayed by Kelce, who is usually in party mode after winning a title. Instead, he saw it fit to show his support and appreciation for his family in the twilight of the Kelce Bowl.
