The Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles share a not-so-sexy Super Bowl fact after last night’s 38-35 Kansas City Chiefs victory.
The Philadelphia Eagles offseason is starting with an incredibly sour taste in their mouth after a 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night.
It’s a feeling the Atlanta Falcons remember well from their own Super Bowl loss six years ago against the New England Patriots.
Both the Eagles and Falcons held double-digit leads at halftime only to surrender them in the second half in a loss. Teams with leads of 10 points or more are 26-2 in the Super Bowl. The Eagles are now joining the Falcons in that category.
The Eagles led 24-14 at halftime in last night’s game, but the Chiefs went on a 14-3 run to take a 28-27 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs tacked on another touchdown from rookie Skyy Moore’s four-yard catch to take a 35-27 lead.
While the Eagles tied it after quarterback Jalen Hurts ran for his third touchdown of the game, Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs on a game-winning drive that ended in a Harrison Butker field goal with eight seconds to go.
In a game that felt in the Eagles’ favor for most of the night, it came down to the fourth quarter and the final drive, and the Chiefs were the better team in those moments.
