Positivity Rate Climbs To 9.6% In Kane-DuPage

KANE COUNTY, IL — Illinois officials imposed new coronavirus restrictions in Region 8 on Friday, but the area’s positivity rate continued to climb over the weekend, according to public health data.

Statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health show the restrictions were triggered Oct. 17 but not put in place until nearly a week later. During that time, the region’s positivity rate rose to 9.4 percent.

The positivity rate in Region 8 hit 9.6 percent Sunday, the most recent day for which testing data is available. The region’s positivity rate has been above 8 percent since Oct. 17, public health data shows.

Restrictions will be lifted when the region records positivity rates under 6.5 percent for three days in a row, while public health officials will add more restrictions if the regional positivity rate remains above 8 percent after 14 days with additional mitigations.
