Black Ice, Uninterrupted’s latest documentary that dives into the lives of Black players in hockey, is now available on Crave after premiering last night on TSN.
The documentary, directed by Hubert Davis, takes a deeper look into Black hockey players’ experiences in their respective leagues and lives. Some athletes featured in the documentary include Akim Aliu, Sarah Nurse, P.K. Subban, Saroya Tinker, Mark Connors, and Wayne Simmonds.
The Shift covered the premiere and spoke to some of the players featured in the documentary for some extra insight.
“I think there’s so much rich history with Black players playing the game and I think that’s gonna be really showcased,” Sarah Nurse said. “But also to highlight some current players is really huge. Akim kinda starting a revolution is what sparked a lot of this and so there’s gonna be so much that’s gonna be shown that I’m very excited to see.”
Black Ice had previously made its international debut at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the People’s Choice Documentary Award.
The documentary is also available to watch in French on Crave.
