Chris Haynes: Kyrie Irving’s camp did not negotiate after Nets’ initial offer

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving‘s camp did not make a counter to Brooklyn’s initial contract extension offer, according to Chris Haynes. The offer, per Haynes, was tied to the Nets winning a championship.

During a hectic Friday, it was reported that Irving requested a trade because he and the Nets could not come to terms on a agreement that satisfied both parties. Irving reportedly wanted a max contract extension with no stipulations while Brooklyn was unwilling to do that kind of deal without any safeguards built into the contract.

With the multitude of reports coming out about this situation and what led up to it, it looks like Irving has had enough of Brooklyn. According to Haynes, Irving’s reluctance to agree to a contract extension is “not about money” which could be why Irving’s team did not even bother to make an offer. The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 9.
