The NBA on TNT is the gift that just keeps giving.

Broadcast on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the regular season, the show features a unique blend of highlights, analysis and humor from host Ernie Johnson, former Houston Rockets guard Kenny Smith and Hall of Famers Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal. Each member of the cast has their moments, though the greatest comic relief typically comes from the latter two.

That was once again the case this week. It appears O’Neal—a four-time NBA champion and 15-time All-Star known simply as Shaq by most basketball fans—was recently pulled over for speeding in Houston. O’Neal and a member of the Houston Police Department made the most of the encounter, creating a video that served as an intro for the NBA on TNT.

An individual who identified himself as Officer Miles with Houston PD stated, “I just pulled over Shaquille O’Neal for speeding down here in Texas, before adding the tag line, “You are watching the NBA on TNT.”

Shaq can been seen smiling then shaking his head in the clip, before the camera pans to a police car with flashing lights on the city street behind the pair.

O’Neal, who spent time growing up in San Antonio, might have known the officer involved here. The former NBA star dined alongside Houston senior police officer Kenneth Miles at The Union Kitchen in 2020, and the previous year, the duo teamed up to help cover funeral expenses for Jazmine Barnes—a 7-year-old who was tragically shot and killed in northeast Harris County.

Shaq himself has expressed interest in police work following his decorated playing career. In 2021, he joined Georgia’s Henry County Sheriff’s office as director of community relations.
