MAFS AU: Janelle Han left disappointed husband Adam Seed doesn’t have a job

During Wednesday night’s episode of Married At First Sight, Janelle Han confronted groom Adam Seed about his lack of job stability. 

Janelle, a beauty influencer who grew up in a strict Singaporean-Chinese family, saw red flags when her husband couldn’t give her a straight answer to the question,  ‘What do you do for a living?’ 

Adam, 35, is billed on the show as a ‘business owner’ but it remains unclear exactly what his online giveaway business actually entails.

At the reception, Adam told Janelle about the venture.

‘Is that, like, a side hustle, or…’ she asked.  

‘Nah, I feel like that’s what we’re going to work towards, you know?’ he responded, before adding he wants ‘to launch a podcast’ or ‘something like that’. 

‘In Asian culture, your career is part of your identity. And I feel, like, with Adam, I don’t know exactly what his career is,’ Janelle then says in a voice-over. 

The drama did not end there, Adam had a surprise in store for Han.

In a stunning turn of events, Seed went on to reveal a secret about his past that added another layer of complexity to their already strained relationship. 

‘I have a bit of a past. I’m not gonna say like my past rules me, but I’ve learned a lot, and I know what’s best for me and I know what’s best for someone else and I just want it to be nothing but respect,’ he explained.

‘Some of the stuff in my vows I was talking about is I had a relationship, I was engaged. This was about eight, nine years ago… I cheated in that relationship.’

The couple then revisited the topic of Adam’s mysterious career while lying in bed together the morning after their wedding.

‘Do you have any stream of income?’ she asked him bluntly.

‘Don’t make me feel like I’ve got nothing when you don’t know me,’ he responded in an interview with producers.
