Oops! CBS screws up date of Super Bowl LVII in embarrassing graphic
Super Bowl #SuperBowl
Quick: When is the Super Bowl?
(Insert Double Jeopardy music here.)
Here’s the correct answer:
What: Super Bowl LVII
When: Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. ET
Where: State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
TV: FOX Sports (10th Super Bowl broadcast)
Livestream: fuboTV or DirecTV Stream
Announcers: Kevin Burkhardt, Greg Olsen
Sideline reporters: Erin Andrews, Tom Rinaldi
Rules analyst: Mike Pereira
But here’s what CBS told viewers during the AFC Championship Game on Sunday night:
Super Bowl LVII — the misplaced Lombardi Trophy also makes it difficult to read the Roman numerals — will be played on Leap Day, Feb. 29.
Is CBS trying to mess with Fox’s ratings?
The Eagles, who won the Super Bowl five years ago with a different coach and quarterback, will try to do it again behind the formidable duo of Hurts and coach Nick Sirianni. After beating the 49ers, 31-7, Philadelphia will play the Cincinnati Bengals or former Eagles coach Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs.
“We get to do it because we did it better than anyone in the NFC this year,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said.
Hurts had a modest game by his standards after a season in which he was a finalist for MVP. He was 15-of-25 passing for 121 yards and ran for just 39. Hurts sat alone at his locker dressed all in purple and he took a few puffs of a cigar as the Eagles celebrated around him. He understood there was one more game to win.
“I never knew how far we’d go,” Hurts said, “but I never said it couldn’t be done.”
