The Empire State Building celebrated the Eagles’ Super Bowl berth and fans thought it was so lame

Super Bowl #SuperBowl

The New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles are NFC East division rivals. But someone should let the lighting folks at the Empire State Building know that rivalries are supposed to mean something.

The Eagles reached the Super Bowl on Sunday with a dominant 31-7 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. It was a win that was never really in doubt, especially after both Niners quarterbacks Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson suffered injuries.

And while the Empire State Building lights up to celebrate and commemorate different causes on a nightly basis, you know Philadelphia would never light up its landmarks to celebrate a New York Giants conference title. That’s what made the green, white and green Empire State Building so surprising to see on Sunday.

I mean, they could have at least waited for the AFC Championship Game to conclude and use both team colors. Otherwise, it just looked silly to see the New York skyscraper celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fans weren’t particularly kind to the Twitter account’s admin either.

To be fair, it’s not like the Jets have given them much reason to use that color scheme. Still, read the room, Empire State Building!
