Tottenham expert rips into Ryan Sessegnon after ‘bizarre’ development – ‘I am lost for words’
Sessegnon #Sessegnon
Ryan Sessegnon is a “Championship player” and should never play for Tottenham again.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Sessegnon, 22, has started nine Premier League games for Tottenham this season though Ivan Perisic has been preferred in the club’s Champions League games.
His latest start came in Sunday’s (15 January) North London Derby loss as Perisic was surprisingly dropped to the bench.
Wenham insists playing Sessegnong is like starting with 10 men on the pitch.
“Sessegnon is a Championship player, always will be,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“We bought him as this kid with great potential and all of the attributes. I was so excited when we got him, he was exactly the signing I wanted the club to make.
“But you can have hindsight and you can be allowed to be wrong about things. I was absolutely wrong about Sessegnon.
“He has no pace. Ever since he had his hamstring injury he doesn’t take players on. What is the point of setting your team up to benefit from attacking wing-backs if you have a wing-back who can’t beat a man, has no pace, has no strength and cannot deliver a cross?
“It’s pointless, a bizarre decision. You are starting with 10 players. It was a tactical decision to start him and what a decision it was.
“What was the thinking? That he was going to shut down Saka? That’s where the first goal came from.
“I am lost for words.”
In other news, one expert claims Oliver Skipp and one of his teammates may leave Tottenham after a development that ‘doesn’t make sense’.
