🇩🇪 Bayern slip up again to blow Bundesliga title race open | OneFootball
Bayern #Bayern
Bayern Munich’s winless post-winter break run continued as they were pegged back by Eintracht Frankfurt at home to open up the Bundesliga title picture.
Scorers: Sané 34′; Kolo Muani 69′
They were frustrated in drawing each of their opening two games since the winter break in 1-1 draws against Leipzig and Köln and that concerning trend continued against the Europa League holders despite controlling possession for lengthy spells.
Leroy Sané was guilty of spurning a big early chance but he made up for that on 34 minutes by finally breaking Frankfurt’s frustrating resistance.
A low cut-back from Thomas Müller on the right picked out his attacking colleague in space and his low first time finish beat Kevin Trapp in the visitors’ goal.
A big goalmouth scramble after half-time in which Sané was involved once again saw Bayern go close to a second and they were made to pay for the miss with a ruthless counter-attacking equaliser with just over 20 minutes left on the clock.
Daichi Kamada waltzed forward and made the most of the space afforded to him by picking out Randal Kolo Muani on the left of the area and although the striker still had a lot of work to do, he swept past compatriot Dayot Upamecano before driving into the far corner to continue his incredible breakout campaign.
The share of the spoils makes things very interesting at the top of the table.
Bayern still lead the way but by just one point over Union Berlin in second, with RB Leipzig one point behind them. Freiburg lurk one off that in fourth, while Frankfurt are five points off the top and Dortmund sit sixth.
BVB are six points behind Bayern but can cut that gap to three with a win over Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.
