dodie has announced she’s set to release her debut album Build A Problem – and she’s not holding back on the honesty front.

The Sick Of Losing Soulmates hitmaker revealed she’ll be releasing her first studio album after her previous EPs.

However, we might all be in for getting our hearts shattered as the 25-year-old admitted she was ‘going through a crisis’ when she wrote the album.

‘I was very unsure of who I was and I was trying to figure it out in music,’ she explained. ‘So I think it’s quite unstable of an album – but it’s definitely honest.’

dodie – full name Dorothy Clark – added: ‘I’d like people to come away from this album knowing what I can do.’

Fans are understandably hyped, with the musician releasing her single Cool Girl. One wrote: ‘dodie just announced her album and i am LIVING’ while another added: ‘not dodie making time real again by announcing an album so that we have to wait really slowly for 5th of march to come.’

Previously chatting to Metro.co.uk, dodie opened up about her motivation for writing, explaining: ‘I think [intimacy is] the main reason why I write.

‘I think I’ve learned how to amplify my quieter sound without losing the intimacy.’

She added of her older songs: ‘I think I just look back on them with more knowledge. For example Secret For The Mad is a song I wrote promising people they can get out of bad mental places and be okay.

‘Looking back, I’m like “good job, everything’s going to be okay.”‘

And an album has clearly been a dream of hers for quite some time, with the star previously reflecting: ‘I think my next goal is probably to make an album that I’m proud of.

‘I think I’ve got to the stage now where I’m very pleased with the size of my audience – obviously, I mean it’s amazing, it’s so weird – so now I’m like well people are listening.’

How far she’s come!

dodie’s Build A Problem is set for release on March 5, 2021.
