Patrick Bamford breaks into a grin as Accrington Stanley fans chant ‘Bamford is a w*****’

Leeds striker Patrick Bamford saw the funny side as he was repeatedly called a ‘w*****’ by Accrington Stanley fans during his TV interview after his side’s 3-1 FA Cup win on Saturday.
Bamford registered two assists in the game, setting up Jack Harrison in the first half before producing a wonderful piece of skill to tee up Junior Firpo after the break.
Despite not getting on the scoresheet himself, Bamford was still called over by the BBC to speak to presenter Alex Scott along with pundits Jermaine Beckford and Glenn Murray.
Midway through his interview, it became clear that some of the home fans had noticed Bamford being spoken to, and they responded by chanting ‘Bamford is a w*****’.
To his credit, the Leeds forward remained composed throughout the interview, and even broke into a smile as the light-hearted banter continued to come his way.
Scott and her colleagues also appeared to be aware of what was going on, as the BBC host ended the interview by saying: ‘Patrick, thank you for laughing along with us and smiling’.
It would have been easy for Bamford to be distracted, but he still managed to provide some articulate answers after a much-needed win for his team.
‘We started slowly, Accrington made it difficult,’ Bamford admitted.

‘After we got the first goal, we got into the game. Second half, we were much better.’
It has been a torrid 18 months full of injury setbacks for the 29-year-old, but he looked to be back to somewhere near his best at the Wham Stadium, and he insisted that he is happy with his development after being eased back into action.
‘I’m feeling a lot better. Today I was just missing a goal. I’ve been building the minutes up slowly, gradual progress,’ he added.
Leeds have not won any of their last six league games, but have started to put a cup run together, and Bamford is confident that the tide will turn sooner rather than later in terms of results.
‘The FA Cup has taken pressure off and given some confidence,’ he said. ‘We’ve been growing with each performance, it’s just about turning draws and losses into wins.’
