My son followed Darvel players into their dressing room and ended up jumping around with his heroes after Aberdeen glory

DARVEL was positively JUMPING on Monday night as the town danced in unison to celebrate what Ally McCoist described as the biggest Scottish Cup shock in his lifetime.

But one lucky fan had an even better bounce than most after sneaking into the home DRESSING ROOM at Recreation Park to party with the players.

The 1-0 win sealed a last-16 date with Falkirk.

Jordan Kirkpatrick’s first half strike was enough to eliminate abysmal Aberdeen from the competition and send the ambitious West of Scotland League team into the last 16.

The Dons are a massive 56-places above Darvel in the SPFL league ladder.

Jublilant scenes on the pitch at full-time were followed by a huge jump around in the changing room as the players celebrated eliminating the Premiership side.

The players and backroom team partied to Cher classic ‘Believe’ as boss Mick Kennedy went through his post-match media duties – joined by lucky stowaway Logan Smith.

He took his fellow supporters inside the celebrations with a candid video from the dressing room after the biggest match the club, and the town, had ever seen.

Beaming dad and Darvel fan, Chris told Ally McCoist and talkSPORT host Laura Woods how the teen worked his way in – after he’d headed home for a better view of the game.

He explained: “It was packed – Darvel aren’t used to that sort of support. We thought we were going early and it was heaving – the stands were full.

“My brother in law is 6’7” and he struggled to see so I went home to watch it on TV but my son wriggled into the stand – he’s a chancer.

“He was loving it – jumping about with his mates, the drum and the flares.

“They played brilliantly and out-played Aberdeen and at the end my son just followed the players.

“He got in the changing room jumping about. He couldn’t believe it.

“I put the video on social media – he’s in there dancing about amongst the players and it’s quite something.

“It was an amazing night and everyone and their dog was out and wanted to be there at this historic game.”

The incredible shock sent ripples around the country and Scottish football legend McCoist can’t remember a bigger upset.

He said: “The atmosphere looked amazing and I can only imagine what it was like at the end of the game.

“I am buzzing for everyone at Darvel.

“I’ve said it is the biggest shock in my lifetime and I stand by it.”

Furious Dons fans have called for boss Jim Goodwin to be SACKED after the embarrassing loss – but the gaffer has pleaded for time to turn things around.

Players were met with an X-rated banner hung at the training ground on Tuesday morning – but one Dons fan had a bittersweet evening.

He backed the Ayrshire side to defeat his heroes – and placed the HUGE odds wager BY MISTAKE.
