Meek Mill says he nearly fought pro boxer at Gervonta Davis fight. Fans assure him that would not have gone well

By the time Gervonta “Tank” Davis slugged his way to another win, stopping Hector Luis Garcia in the ninth, Saturday it was actually Sunday morning.

The fight spilled on right past 1 a.m., and famed Philly rapper Meek Mill was, at least, partly to blame for the late finish. And that’s because the fight had an odd, mid-round timeout in the eighth when Davis and Garcia both became distracted by a scuffle out in the audience at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.

It was hard to tell exactly what was going on with the scuffle on television, but Mill appeared to be escorted out. Now, postfight, we know a little bit more of what took place because Mill is tweeting about it.

“Congratulations tankkk!!!” Mill tweeted. “I almost fought a boxer telling him this fight not going 12 rounds. I missed the big bomb!!!”

In a follow up tweet Mill wrote that he would “never let no petty (stuff) escalate” before adding “I just walked away … I came to support tank and boots!!!!!!. Good wins.”

Turns out, the pro boxer that Mill said he almost fought was Garry Russell Jr. and his brothers, Antonio and Gary Antuannae, both of whom are also boxers.

The 34-year-old Russell Jr. is 31-2 with 18 knockouts. Antonio is 19-1-1. Gary Antuanne is 16-0 with 16 knockouts.

Meek is a great rapper, but there are some unflattering videos of him doing something that, sort of, resembles attempting to box that fans shared while pointing out that walking away was probably a pretty smart move for him in this situation.

“You was about to get slaughtered,” one fan responded to Mill, sharing the video of him attempting to box.

“Would’ve saw real dreams and nightmares messing with them boxers,” another person responded.

“We seen yo bag work Meek … you shouldn’t try to fight anyone … lol,” another replied.

End of the day, it certainly appears Mill made the right choice walking away, and some credit may go to Wallo, who appeared to help calm the situation. And, at least for Tank Davis everything ended well as he moved to 28-0 with 26 knockouts.
