Jools Holland is back with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra to help the nation see in the New Year with his Annual Hootenanny on the BBC.
After two years of a more intimate version of the New Year’s Eve institution due to the pandemic, 2022’s show is set to be a return to a full cast of music stars and an invited audience with a sprinkling of celebrities sharing their New Year resolutions.
This year will be a double celebration as it is also the 30th anniversary of the show.
Joining the night’s proceedings in the round will be some of the biggest names from 2022 as well as long-established artists, all with a little musical help from the military.
Who is on the New Year’s Eve show?
George Ezra dominated the music scene in 2022 with his third consecutive number one album, Gold Rush Kid.
He will perform “Green Green Grass”, from the album, as well as a Van Morrison cover during the course of the evening.
Rotherham’s Rebecca Lucy Taylor aka Self Esteem, whose album Prioritise Pleasure was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, will also joining Jools and his band to perform a track from her album plus a Diana Ross classic.
As will Cat Burns, whose song “Go” was one of the best-selling songs of 2022.
Also keeping Jools and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra company will be Welsh guitarist and singer Andy Fairweather Low, a founding member and lead singer of 60s pop band Amen Corner.
Roland Gift, lead singer of Birmingham’s Fine Young Cannibals, will reprise some of his band’s biggest hits with Jools including Good Thing.

While singer-songwriter Gabrielle, who burst onto the scene in 1993 with her debut single “Dreams”, will sing in the new year on the turn of midnight. 70s soul group The Real Thing will perform a couple of their classic tunes including hit “You To Me Are Everything”.
And US duo Rachael & Vilray will bring their own take on the jazz sound of the 30s and 40s.
As always singer Ruby Turner will be adding her vocals to the New Year mix.
And if that wasn’t enough to get the party in full swing, then throw in the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards at midnight.
How and where can you watch it?
The New Year’s Eve musical celebrations start on BBC Two at 11.30pm on Saturday 31 December and finish at 1.35am on New Year’s Day starting 2023 on a strong note.
It will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
