COMES TO DOWNED POWER LINES. WELL, THAT STORM SYSTEM IN CALIFORNIA WILL HAVE SOME IMPACT ON PARTS OF NEW MEXICO. HERE’S JOE. OKAY. HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT. FIRST OF ALL, ALL YOU CAN SEE IS PRETTY QUIET IN THE METRO AREA RIGHT NOW, BUT POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS FROM THAT CALIFORNIA STORM WILL IMPACT3 NORTHEASTERN PARTS OF THE STATE AND CONTINUE DOWN TO THE RUIDOSO AREA WITH WINDS GUSTING OVER 60 MILES AN HOUR AT TIMES. AND SHOWERS. OVER THE WEEKEND, WE’LL START SOUTHERN PARTS OF THE STATE AND RATHER CLOUDY SKIES FOR MUCH OF US THIS WEEKEND. NOW, HERE’S THAT POWERFUL STORM SYSTEM. PUSH IT ON INTO CALIFORNIA. IT’S GOING TO KIND OF RING ITSELF OUT WITH THE MOISTURE, WILL HAVE A LITTLE BIT KIND OF SCATTERED AOUND AREAS AROUND THE SOUTHWEST MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO, A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW EXPECTED IN THE DURANGO AREA ON INTO THE MOUNTAINS OF CHINA. BUT THERE SEE, WE’LL START OFF IN THE THIRTIES AND FORTIES THROUGHOUT MUCH OF NEW MEXICO. AND AS WE GET THROUGH THE AFTERNOON, YOU’LL SEE FRONT MOVE ON THROUGH RATHER DRY. BUT THE WINDS WILL BE INCREASING AND BREEZY TO WINDY CONDITIONS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS FRONT. LOOK AT THE WARM TAKING SHAPE, HOWEVER WE’RE CONCERNED ABOUT THOSE POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS. IT COULD BE PARTICULARLY STRONG AROUND AREAS AROUND RED RIVER AND ANGEL FIRE GUSTING OVER SEVEN MILES AN HOUR THERE. AND THAT 50 MILE PER HOUR WIND GUSTS FROM A TOLD ON INTO LAS VEGAS. DANGEROUS CROSSWIND IS THERE. AND SO IT’S GOING TO BE A QUICK HEATING ONE DAY EVENT AND THEN WE GET MORE CHANGES GOING INTO THE WEEKEND. THIS IS A LOOK AT THE FRIDAY WINDS. LET’S LOOK AT SATURDAY. ANOTHER SURGE OF MOISTURE COMES IN. AND WHAT I WANT YOU LOOK AT LOOK AT INTERSTATE 40, YOU SEE MOST OF THE RAIN IS TO THE SOUTH. THAT’S WHERE THE HIGHEST PROBABILITY OF WETTING WOULD BE. LET ME SHOW YOU A COUPLE FORECASTS. TEXAS IS ONE MODEL, A MODEL NUMBER ONE WILL CALL IT. YOU SEE INTERSTATE 40. MOST OF THE RAIN ACCUMULATION TO THE SOUTH. ANOTHER ONE SAYS, HEY, YOU KNOW WHAT? WE’RE GOING TO TAKE THAT MOISTURE AND MOVE IT A LITTLE BIT MORE NORTHWARD. SO THAT’S WHAT WE’RE GOING TO BE DEALING FOR THE WEEKEND. THE MORE FAVORED AREAS WOULD BE SOUTHERN PARTS OF THE STATE. BUT WILL BE BREEZY TO DO THROUGHOUT TWO AREAS, RATHER, FOUR CORNERS, A TEMPERATURE OF 53 DEGREES TOMORROW WITH A COUPLE OF SHOWERS. SOME MOUNTAIN SNOWS EARLY ON IN THE FAR EASTERN AREA AND THEN MORE SHOWERS IN THE REGION WITH INCREASING WINDS BY SUNDAY, SOUTHWEST WILL SEE DAYTIME HIGHS IN THE SIXTIES AND IN THE SEVENTIES, DRY FOR TOMORROW. INCREASING RAIN SHOWERS DROPPING TEMPERATURES BY SATURDAY, LESS ACTIVE BY SUNDAY. REMEMBER, POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS AROUND. THE RUIDOSO AREA FOR TOMORROW. THE BREEZY TOO WINDY CONDITIONS ELSEWHERE WILL PUSH PLACES LIKE FARMINGTON UP TO 74 DEGREES. BUT WHEN THAT MOISTURE COMES IN FROM THE SOUTH, DROPPING TEMPERATURES, RAIN SHOWERS AND, LESS RAIN AS WE WORK TOWARD THE LATTER PART OF THE WEEKEND, POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS FROM RED TONE. LAS VEGAS CONTINUE DOWN INTO AREAS WITH STRONG WINDS FROM THE EAST MOUNTAINS DOWN THAT I-40 CORRIDOR. WE’LL SEE WIND GUSTS OVER 50 MILES AN HOUR THROUGHOUT THE ON LAS VEGAS FOR TOMORROW A FEW RAIN SHOWERS BY SUNDAY. AND MORE WIND TO BE DEAL WITH AT TIMES AS WE GET INTO NEXT WEEK. PARTICULARLY STRONG WINDS AROUND THE RED RIVER AREA UNDER THAT HIGH WIND WARNING. WE’LL SEE A BREEZE IN WINDY CONDITIONS THROUGHOUT THE SANTA FE OPERA. I HAVE 48 DEGREES AND THEN IT’S NOT LIKE IT’S GOING TO BE A CONSTANT RAIN OVER THE WEEKEND. BUT IT’LL BE MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES WITH SCATTERED RAIN SHOWERS BEFORE IT STARTS TO DRY OUT. AS WE GET INTO THE EARLY PART OF NEXT WEEK. PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES AND A CHILLY START WILL GIVE WAY TO TEMPERATURES ABOVE AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. AND SUNDAY FORECAST LOOKS LIKE THIS BREEZY AND MILD FOR TOMORROW. 58 DEGREES AND THEN IT’S NOT GOING TO BE AN ALL DAY RAIN BUT MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. I THINK AS WE GET INTO LATE SATURDAY INTO EVENING, SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STILL SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS TO WORK AROUND ON SUNDAY. IT DRIES OUT MONDAY, VERY BY TUESDAY. AND THEN TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO HANG OUT AROUND NORMAL LEVELS AS WE GET INTO THURSDAY OF THE UPCOMING WEEK. BUT YEAH, IT WAS A GORGEOUS, WINDY DAY AND. WINDS WILL BE PARTICULARLY STRONG NORTHEAST TO PARTS OF THE STATE TOMORROW, BUT KIND OF A CLOUDY
