Fort Bragg deletes Twitter account after attributing explicit tweets to hacker

Fort Bragg deleted its Twitter account after claiming several sexually explicit tweets from the account Wednesday afternoon were the result of a hack.

“As many of you may know, there were a string of explicit Tweets from our account this afternoon. This was not the work of our admins,” the Army base said in a tweet. “Our account was hacked. We apologize to our followers. We have secured our account and looking into the matter.”

The tweets were the only ones sent by the North Carolina military installation Wednesday. The account was deactivated shortly thereafter.

The Hill has reached out to both Fort Bragg and to Twitter for comment on whether there was any suspicious activity on the account.
