EastEnders: Mick tries to save Linda from drowning

Mick Carter (played by Danny Dyer) was furious when he realised Janine Butcher (Charlie Brookes) had been lying to him about her involvement in Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) car crash earlier in the year. EastEnders fans know Janine was behind the wheel when the car crashed but she moved Linda into the driver’s seat to make it look as though she had been drink driving.

Mick believed his estranged wife had put her daughter Annie in danger and tried to distance himself from Linda.

However, in true EastEnders fashion, Janine’s scheming was finally exposed as her daughter Scarlette explained she’d been lying.

The youngster claimed Janine had wanted to make Linda look like an unfit mother and Mick realised he couldn’t stay married to her.

In an explosive showdown, Mick told Janine it was over and warned her the police were on their way to arrest her.

But Janine fled Walford with Mick and Linda following in a car behind.

They eventually caught up and while Linda tried to call the police, Mick confronted his new wife insisting she had to return to Albert Square to face up to what she’d done.

However, Janine lashed out and hopped back into the car and drove off but Linda managed to jump in next to her.

As the pair argued in the car, Janine drove off the edge off a cliff and they were trapped inside.

Mick jumped in after the two women and Linda insisted he help Janine and the baby first.

He successfully managed to get Janine to safety and headed back into the water to rescue the true love of his life, Linda.

But as he wandered back into the water and swam out to find his ex-wife, Linda appeared on the beach.

She asked Janine where Mick had gone and when Janine explained he’d gone to rescue her, Linda broke down in tears.

Linda was hysterical as she looked out to sea but was unable to see Mick. The episode ended with a birds eye view of the sea showing Mick had not resurfaced and was unlikely to have suvrived the ordeal.

Despite Danny Dyer confirming his exit from EastEnders, some BBC fans are not convinced he is dead as there was no body and there’s a chance Mick could return in a few years.

Tess Drive posted on Twitter: “No body though. #EastEnders.”

Ben Kerin predicted: “Mick’s doing a Dirty Den in 10 years, he’s basically the modern day version! “HELLO LINDA!” #Eastenders.”

Lew Jefferies added: “No body, we didn’t see him drown. We’ve just been lead to assume he died. Mick is well and truly alive. #EastEnders,” while Alex N shared: “Nobody saw micks body…. He will be back in a few years 😉 #EastEnders.”

Karen O’Brien insisted: “Mick is not dead. He’s done a Harold Bishop from Neighbours and will turn up in a couple of years with memory loss. Watch this space #Eastenders.”

Karen P tweeted: “I won’t believe Mick’s dead until I see his body… and no Julia’s theme either!! I think he’ll be back… I live in hope!! @bbceastenders @MrDDyer #EastEnders.”

EastEnders is available to catch up on BBC iPlayer.
